Signposted from the A836 on the south side of Lairg. Free admission; disabled access; Tourist Information Centre; picnic tables; children's play area. Sensible footwear. Wheelchair access.
The Ord Archaeology Trail starts at the Ferrycroft Countryside Centre and takes 30 - 60 minutes (moderate footwear; unsuitable for wheelchairs) Path to Ferry Wood broch (wheelchairs can only get to about 100 m of the broch).
The Ord Archaeology Trail takes a circular route over the Ord Hill, and includes Bronze Age house-sites and field systems, two impressive Neolithic cairns, a burnt mound and evidence of medieval cultivation. Splendid views over Lairg and the surrounding area from the top of the hill. A Trail leaflet and booklet are available from Ferrycroft Centre, which tells the story of the local landscape through audio-visual displays and interactive exhibits. The Forest Enterprise path to the Ferry Wood broch also starts from Ferrycroft.
