the Historic Rural Settlement Group

For most of Scotland's historic past, the majority of the population lived and worked in the countryside. The houses, fields, and wider landscape they inhabited are studied under the umbrella term historic rural settlement. The Historic Rural Settlement Group exists to provide a forum for discussion on the understanding, conservation and management of historic rural settlement in Scotland.
